10 Months!!

This past week, Laurel's teacher asked me if I would be ready for her to start visiting the next class during the month of February so she would be ready to move up at the beginning of March. My initial reaction was, No Way... she is so young. Well, not really, she will be turning one in only two months and this was a reality check I wasn't quite prepared for!

- She has become very, very mobile in the last month. Crawling, pulling up and getting down, getting herself into a seated position and even a few steps along the furniture. It makes her seem so much more grown up. Although, when she wants to get somewhere fast she still uses her army crawl!

- She watches everything her sister does with great fascination. They have started looking at each other and giggling together in the car. They have races down the hallway laughing the whole way. She lights up and dances when Maya sings songs to her, patty cake is a huge favorite.

- Music is definitely a must, Laurel LOVES to dance.

- She won't eat any baby food anymore and so far she has loved almost everything she has tried; veggies, fruit, meat, bread, you name it.

- She started saying uh oh, which Maya got a huge kick out of.

- If she gets mad about something, watch out, she is sure to let you know. There is no holding back!

- Still no teeth. Her Doctor tells me not to worry about it, so I am not. The bright side is that no teeth is great for nursing!

Tea Party

Snow, snow, snow

Seattle received a significant amount of snow last week and the whole week ended up being one long snow day.  It was the worst possible week for me work-wise and I was only able to stay home two of the days so Rey and the girls had lots of quality time together.

The beginning of it all... when it was fun and not an inconvenience!  Playing outside with Brad and Tyler.

Laurel checking it out.

Once it turned into ice rain which covered the snow in a thick layer of ice, it was no longer fun to play in.  But we were tired of being cooped up inside so played in the garage.

Helping clean up the destruction caused by heavy ice on all of our trees.

She's figured it out!

But only if she is naked... seriously, put clothes on her and she continues to army crawl.  Goofy girl.  And I have realized that this is the first and only video we have taken of Laurel.  We have some catching up to do!

9 months!!

Here she is... we've reached nine months. She weighs in at 17lbs even (20%) and is 27 inches (25%). Life is great, we are all having so much fun as Laurel develops more personality, becomes more interactive and more than just an observer of our family activities.

Lots of changes once again.

- We have introduced finger foods and she is loving them. In fact, she loves them so much that she has started to reject most baby food. She still eats most everything and I am having a great time coming up with new things for her to try.

- She is pulling up all the time. She is a bit wobbly, so there have been a lot of tumbles, but it is all part of the learning process.

- I was fairly convinced that she was going to army crawl until she was walking, until tonight when she crawled on hands and knees in the bathtub. We will see what happens!

- She already has quite the independent streak. Her teacher at daycare was struggling to get her to drink her bottle, Laurel just kept pushing it away. They finally tried sitting her down and just handing it to her, she immediately grabbed it and drank the whole thing. She just wanted to do it herself. She gets very frustrated when she can't figure out how to do something. She tries and tries and lets out quite the frustrated cry.

- She has learned to wave and is working on clapping.

Cheese!

Not that there were any doubts, but Laurel has proven she is one of us.  We introduced cheese recently and she can not seem to get enough.  Hmmm... wonder where she gets it?
