Her teachers were ready to move her up into the next class, but she had to be {at least closer} to potty trained. I hadn't even started the process beyond having her try when she showed some interest and I thought they were crazy. But, they were convinced it would be easy and offered to take the brunt of the training. And if they wanted to potty train my kid, who was I to stop them!
So over the holidays we pushed the potty a little more and she began to get the hang of it. Once the chaos was over, we decided to take the plunge. Last Sunday, we put on underwear. She had one tiny accident in the beginning and managed to remain dry the rest of the day. I showed up to school Monday morning with a whole bunch of clothes and underwear and let them take over. When I picked her up that night she was still in the same outfit. She had made it through the entire day with zero accidents and all it took was a couple reminders from her teachers. To say I was shocked would be an understatement. The rest of the week went the exact same way!
She has been amazing. Only a couple small accidents since then and they were only because she couldn't get the undies down quite fast enough. She has even started waking up dry from naps and in the morning.
Once again, she surprises me. I should be used to this now, it is completely her personality. There is no way you can make her do something she doesn't want to, but as soon as she decides she is ready she masters it quickly.
And a big thanks to Grandpa Lain for the Donald Duck Pez dispenser that he got her for Christmas. A promise of some Pez was the only thing that convinced her to poop in the potty in the beginning!
No more binky, no more crib, no more diapers. No more Baby Laurel. A little sad, yet I am excited to see the little girls she becomes.
