Aquarium

Maya is obsessed with fish (or as she says - "ish"). There are two places this obsession has come from... the first is daycare and the second is Fry's (yes, the large and obnoxious electronics store). There is a big fishtank by the front door at her daycare center and the first thing she does when she walks in each morning is stop to say hi to the fish. On many of the display TVs at Fry's, there is a short little program showing fish in the ocean. We happened to stop by there a few times one week and Maya was fascinated. As soon as it would end she would frantically sign "more". At this point, she believes all TVs should have fish on them, which has lead Rey and I to search for shows featuring fish on the discovery and animal channels. She doesn't really watch TV so I figure a few educational programs regarding fish won't hurt! Luckily last week was Shark Week and she doesn't seem to discriminate between cute tropical fish and big sharks with sharp teeth.

Last weekend was a rainy one in Seattle, so we decided to take her to the aquarium to see live fish. She had a blast. She had a great time walking around in the underwater dome and watching all the fish around her. She touched starfish in the touch pool and followed a seal back and forth as it swam from end to end in the tank. It is so much fun watching her grow up and really enjoy outings like this.
