The countdown has begun

It is a little hard to believe that we will get to meet the newest member of our family in a few short weeks.  Rey and I are continually going back and forth between the excitement of meeting the little one and sheer panic of what this is going to do to our world.  Are we ready?  Who knows.  But, we are doing our best and I'm sure we will somehow figure it all out.

- Maya has officially moved into her big girl room... although we decided to keep her in the crib and forgo the big girl bed for a little bit longer.  The transition went very smoothly, she seems pretty excited about it and likes to show it off.  We still have a bunch of work to do; the closet isn't cleaned out yet, there is nothing on the walls and she needs a dresser but none of that seems to matter to her and we will slowly sort it all out.  I was told she was talking about her new room to all her friends and teachers at daycare.

- Rey and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary with a lovely weekend alone (I'm sure the last in awhile!).  It was some much needed downtime and Maya had a great time staying with Grandma and Grandpa Knowles.  We are very lucky that she has such a close relationship with them!  She talks about them often and our conversations in the car often include; "Grandpa at work?", "Grandpa at home?", "Grandpa read to Maya" (from what I can tell, she calls them both Grandpa so I never know which she is talking about).

- Maya has already had to deal with some changes surrounding my ability to play with her so hopefully this will help the adjustment a bit.  It is simply too difficult (and painful!) for me to sit and with her on the floor, run around the house or push her on her toys these days.  Luckily Daddy can step in; but but we have had to make to with lots of art projects, books, puzzles and watching little more Curious George at the end of a long day than I would like.  She gets a little frustrated, but is learning to deal with it.

- We bought Maya a baby doll for Christmas in hopes that she might have a little one to take care of while we tend to her sister.  She didn't show much interest until the last week or so.  Now, we put the baby to bed each night, make sure she always has a hat on to keep her warm and Maya loves to change the baby's diaper.  In fact, she threw an epic fit last night when I limited her to one diaper instead of the four or five she would have liked to go through (those things are too expensive to waste!).

- My lists have been made, plans have been set, everyone is on call and bags are somewhat packed should Baby Girl decide to come early.  She's been threatening to join us for the last two weeks, and I think I've finally reached the level of uncomfortableness to where I am also ready.  Any day now!

Here are a few pictures of Maya enjoying her weekend with Grandma and Grandpa.

Markers, crayons, chalk, paint - she loves it all.

Enjoying the pancakes she helped Grandma make.

Building a snowman out of the last remaining snow.
