It was time for a new lunch box, after more than a year of daily use it was time to retire the old one. I let Maya pick her own and to my surprise she chose dinosaurs. No amount of persuading would convince her to pick my favorite, the really cute (and girly) owl. She is so proud of her choice and went around to show it to all her friends and her teachers this morning. I love that she has her own opinions and that they are a bit different from the norm. I love that she picks out dinosaur lunch boxes and books from the library and chooses to be a rocket ship for halloween while at the same time loves to wear pretty dresses so she can spin while dancing and brings out all the brushes and hair clips to do my hair.

Also, my new favorite Maya phrase... when talking about something that is not for kids, "that is for growing ups and teachers."
